Chapter 81: A Drunken Night To Forget

"That's the last one." The doctor announced laying the last empty syringe on the tray. "Just take it easy for the rest of the day. It takes a few days to kick in before you will feel the full benefits from it. Your throat will be a little sore and maybe a little swollen. There are a few side effects that could happen. Headaches, trouble sleeping, and nausea. Are just a few. If you start having trouble breathing or notice a rapid hearbeat. Contact our office immediately. Look Johhny you need to lay off the cigarettes for at least three days, but with you being a singer and relying on your voice, I would suggest quitting permanently!"

"Okay Doc I will try." He barely got out with a straight face.

"I want to see you back here in two weeks. Is the same time good?"

"Yeah that's fine." John answered still feeling a little pain in his neck but so glad it was over.

That should be enough time to see just how much improvement there will be." He handed him an appointment card.

"Ok doc sure.  I hope this helps." John replied with his scratchy voice.

"It should give you some relief. I'll step out and let you get your shirt back on." Have a good rest of your day." He walked out.

"I'll meet you out front." Ashley walked to the door.

"Where do you think you're going? You do see I'm sitting here with no shirt on right?" He smiled.

"Oh I definitely see that. I just need to stop by the bathroom. I'll meet you back in the waiting room."

"Okay I'll be out there in a minute."

Ashley stopped at the restroom her head was pounding again. She stopped at the sink and wet a paper towel and rung it out and placed it on her forehead. She dug through her purse looking for her pill bottles. She dug out her headache medicine and was down to her last few pills. "Damn it! I've got to find a doctor out here soon." She thought as she swallowed the pill and cupped some water in her hand to wash it down. She still felt awful, but she went out to the waiting area to be there for John.

As soon as she entered the room, an anxious Carol locked eyes with her and stood up. "How is he? Is he okay?" She asked very concerned like any mother would be.

"He's fine the doctor said it would take a few days for it to fully work. He's getting dressed."

"Okay well you can leave now! I will make sure my son gets home!" Carol hissed still angry she wasn't allowed to go back with John to receive the shots.

"No I'm not leaving him! I told John I would meet him out here."

"Who do you think you are swooping in here trying to push me out of my son's life?" Carol snapped rudely at her.

"I'm not trying to push you out of anything!  John is the one that didn't want you to go back there with him!" Ashley explained trying to keep her temper in check.

"That's because you are putting stuff in his head! Just like you have turned him against the mother of his child and his baby!"

"Listen lady, you give me way to much credit!" Dorothea turned John against her when she tricked him into getting her pregnant with a child he isn't ready for!"

"Johnny would come around if you weren't always throwing yourself at him! He would come to his senses and marry Dot and be there for his child!"

"You know good and well John doesn't love her! She hurt him a lot when she cheated on him with Bobby! If you love your son, how can you want him to settle down into a loveless marriage?"

"Don't you dare question my love for my son! I have always been there for him! Don't try to act like you are loyal to my Johnny! I saw you yesterday, pull up at your house with that long haired Michaels character! The two of you sure looked awful chummy! The way you chase that guy all over town is pathetic!"

"Bret is my friend and he was helping me yesterday with something you know nothing about! So do yourself a favor and just stay the hell out of my business!"

"And there it is. The reason I don't want my son wasting his time with you! You are just a low class piece of southern trash and when Johnny wises up to you, It will be one of the happiest days of my entire life!"

"Whatever." Ashley replied as her head was pounding more. She sat down in a chair and held her head as Carol went to see what was taking John so long.

A nurse brought John a prescription to take for the next couple of weeks.

"Oh hi Johnny." She greeted him.

He looked up as soon as he recognized the voice and was caught off guard to see the nurse he slept with at the hospital.  He was sort of stunned to bump into her here.

"Hey Debbie. You work here too?"

"Yeah just on Wednesdays and Thursdays. How have you been?" She asked with a sort of shy smile.

"I'm doing okay. Still trying to get my voice back."

"Well you sure look really good. You know it hurt my feelings that you never called me after the great time we had in your hospital room. I hope you didn't get the wrong idea about me. I don't usually sleep with a guy as soon as I meet him. I just looked into those beautiful blue eyes and I just couldn't resist."

"Oh I'm sorry about not calling. I've just been really busy and I'm seeing somebody now. Matter of fact I'm crazy about her."

"Really? Damn!" She emphasized. "I wonder if she knows what a lucky girl she is? I sure would like to see you again. I get off at 5 we could go back to my place and hang out. I mean just as friends if that's what you want." She smiled and the way she was looking at him, he knew what she really meant.

"No I'm sorry, I can't. My girlfriend is out front waiting for me."

"Okay well maybe some other time then. Here's my number again." She quickly wrote it on a small pad of paper and ripped it off. "Don't lose it this time! I want to get together with you soon." She smiled and he noticed how full and pouty her lips were. He flashed back to the day he was with her. He thought about how she took him in her mouth right there in the hospital room.

He jumped up. "I've got to go!"

The door flung open. "Johnny are you finished?" Carol asked walking over to him. He shoved the piece of paper with the phone number on it in his jeans pocket.

"Yeah I'm done. See you later Debbie." He managed a little smile as he walked by her on his way out.

"Where's Ashley?" He asked his Mother walking dow the hall with her.

"I don't know dear. I think she left." Carol quickly replied.

"No she couldn't have." He hurried to the main waiting room door and pulled it open. He was happy to find Ashley sitting in a chair reading a magazine.

He walked over to her. "I'm almost done baby, I've just got to check out."

"Okay that's fine." She replied looking up at him.

He walked over to the desk and handed her the papers the nurse gave him.

Carol walked up when he finished. "You know you could come home with me. I can cook you some soup for dinner. Something easy on your throat."

"No it's okay Ma. Ashley is going home with me. Don't worry so much. She'll take good care of me. I'll call you tomorrow."

"Okay dear. Be careful though, no rough stuff okay?"

"Nah I'm probably just going to bed." He looked over at Ashley with a little smirk on his face his mother noticed.

"My God son do you ever come up for air?" Carol asked disgusted by his behaviour.

"Just to sleep Ma." He chuckled.

"Your Mom is a lot of things, but I'm not stupid dear. Bye Johnny." She walked over to the door. She turned back and gave Ashley a evil glare.

John walked over to Ashley smiling.

"What was that all about?" She asked wondering why his Mom looked at her like that.

"Oh she thinks you're taking me home to jump my bones." He laughed.

"And why would she think that?"

"I might have mentioned a little something about it to her."

"Oh my Lord! You are so bad! No wonder the woman hates me!"

"I'm kidding, I didn't tell her that. She just always assumes that's what I'm trying to do." He laughed.

"Well she's kinda right." Ashley smiled. "You are always trying to have sex with me." She smiled looking up at him.

"Well yeah anytime,  anywhere, any place." He grinned.

"So I guess judging by that sexy smile on your face, you must be feeling okay?"

"Yeah I'm good. Just a little sore."

"Would you have rather gone home with your Mom? I mean I'm fine with it, if you want to. I don't want to get in the way of  you spending time with her or your family."

"No all I need is you right now. Let's get out of here and go home."

"Okay."  She stood up and followed him out to the car.

They pulled in at the apartment and got the door open and went inside.

"Do you need anything John?" Ashley asked sitting her purse down and pausing beside the bar.

"My throat is really dry. Can you fix me some water?"

"Sure." She hurried over to grab a glass and filled it for him.

"Here you go." She handed it to him.

"Thanks." He took a sip. He sat there not really saying anything.

"Is everything okay?" She asked a little worried about him.

"Yeah I'm just hoping these shots are really going to work. Singing and music are my life. I really don't have a back up plan."

"I think they will. Just give it a little time."

Ashley sat on the couch and closed her eyes and tilted her head back. "What's wrong baby? He asked noticing she didn't seem like herself.

"I keep getting these really bad headaches and the medicine the doctor gave me isn't helping that much. I'm almost out anyway. I have to find a doctor around here soon."

"Come here." He pulled her over to him and hugged her. "I'll make it better." He smiled  and started rubbing her temples and gradually moved down to her shoulders.

"Oh John that feels so good. " She tilted her head back to him a little.

"Come on lets go lay down. I'll rub your back. Clothes are optional." He grinned taking his shirt off.

"Oh you!" She smiled. They walked into the bedroom. John took off his pants and tossed them on the floor. He slipped on his pajama bottoms and he pulled back the covers and laid down. Ashley picked up her pillow to fluff it up a little and when she did a big hoop earring slid out from under it. "John whose  earring is this?" She asked with a questioning look and a little attitude in her voice.

John stared hard at the earring. He remembered Patty wearing them the night he had sex with her. He couldn't say a word. His face felt hot he was sure she knew. That she had figured out that he fucked someone else right here is this bed. "Uh.....uh....I......uh." He stammered. His mind going blank. He was usually so quick with lies for a girl. But that was just it. He felt so damn bad for lying to her. "What other choice do I have? I  sure don't want to lose her." He thought as he opened his mouth and began to spew out lies.

"Oh Richie brought some girl over here the other night. We were all in here listening to the stereo. I guess she dropped it then." He nervously brushed his hair back out of his face and sat there looking in her eyes hoping she believed him.

Ashley stood there studying his face. "Richie? I thought he had something going on with Stacey?"

"He does this chick is just a friend. She's not Richie's type at all!" He tried hard to explain.

"Was she your type?" Her voice was a little more stern and her face looked a little ticked off.

"Me? God no! I barely know her."

"I hope so, because you know what I thought!"

"God no!" Who would I have brought up here? Everybody knows I'm with you! When would I have time?"

"I don't know." She laid the earring down on the nightstand. "I believe you. I just really feel horrible. I'm sorry, my head is killing me."

"Okay baby as long as your not mad at me. I'm sorry you're feeling bad. Here just lay down with me. You'll feel better. John held her in his arms and soon she drifted off to sleep.

He heard a knock at the door and gently eased himself off the bed trying hard not to wake her. He grabbed a shirt off of the floor and headed for the door putting it on.

He pulled open the door to find Richie standing there smoking a cigarette. "Hey man I was doing a delivery over here for Harold and thought I'd stop by to see how it went at the doctor today."

"It was okay. I'm a little sore. He said it would take a couple days to see if it helped. Come on in, but keep it down Ash is asleep. She's having another bad headache."

"Damn man I hate to hear that. I can go. I don't want to wake her up."

"Let's just step outside. I'm dying for a smoke but the doc said I can't have one for at least three days."

"Damn that's rough. I'll put it out." He dropped it and stomped it out with his shoe. He kicked off the side and watched it fall to the ground below as they walked down the steps. Richie noticed John's face looked a little strange. "What's up? What's going on with you?"

"I'm just a fucking liar! And I get myself into way too much bullshit!"

"Yeah well you will have to be a little more  specific. You kinda got a lot of shit going on right now."

"Yeah I know. It's Ash she was kinda pissed at me and she had every right to be. We were both feeling kinda bad so we were going to lay down for a little bit and she moved her pillow and Patty's damn earring slid out from under it!"

"Aww damn man! Are you serious?" Richie asked leaning up against his car.

"She asked me whose earring it was and I froze. My fucking mind went blank. So I lied and told her you brought some chick over the other night and we were all in there listening to the stereo."

"Fuck! What did you say that for? You know she's going to tell Stacey!" Richie yelled getting kind of pissed off. "You damn well know I'm trying to get with her!"

"It's okay man! I smoothed it over! I told her she's just a friend. Not your type at all!"

"Do you think she bought it? Was she still mad?"

"She said she believed me. But I don't know. I mean fuck! It's shady as shit! She goes to lay down and finds a fucking earring in my damn bed! I've got to get my shit together man! I mean Patty shouldn't have ever been over here! Much less going down on me or us having sex!"

"Well just don't bring me into your shit next time! I don't need Stacey mad at me if this cluster fuck blows up in your face!"

"I know man. I'm sorry. I almost told her the truth. I fucking hate lying to her. She trusts me and I promised her I wouldn't ever hurt her and look that's exactly what I'm doing. I feel like a total piece of shit!"

"You were drunk Johnny! She made the moves on you! You told her no! Don't come clean now! You're almost in the clear! I mean Patty's out of the picture and Ashley's even getting past you knocking up Dot!"

"Don't even mention her. She's a thorn in my fucking side. My life would be perfect if I hadn't ever met that bitch!" John snapped getting pissed just thinking about Dot.

"Okay Dot, it's time to spill it. Johnny was with Ashley and he was pissed at you for cheating on him with Bobby. So that lets him off the hook. Then who could the daddy be? Bobby?"

"Look just get out of my face right now! I've got to think! It's really not any of your damn business anyway!" Dorothea yelled at her.

"Okay calm down! I'm your best friend Dot! I'm just trying to help you!"

Well this quack doesn't know what he's talking about! He has to be wrong! There's no way I got pregnant then. I mean I don't even want to think about who the Daddy could be if the doctor is right!"

"Oh my God! So it's not Bobby's? Tell me what the hell are you talking about! Who did you sleep with? You always tell me when you sleep with a guy! Why would you not tell me? Who the hell could it be? What's the big secret?" She looked Dot in the eye questioning her.

"Because I didn't want anybody to know! It only happened one time! Bobby had been out of town for a while. Johnny blew me off at the Fast Lane and I was pissed. He was there with Ashley so I got too smashed to drive and I let an asshole take me home. He wanted to stop at his place to get something and we went inside and he managed to sweet talk me right out of my panties. Telling me how hot he always thought I was. How he had secretly always had a thing for me. That he snuck in to watch a couple of my karate matches. How he was always so jealous of Johnny. I was loaded and wanting to get back at Johnny, so I let him go all the way. The sex wasn't even that good! As soon as we started going at it, I knew it was a mistake. It was over really quick and the cheap bastard didn't even have any condoms! I told his dumb ass to pull out and not cum inside me, but he just didn't listen! I thought it would be fine. I had been on the pill for a while and it would just be a drunken night I could forget without everybody knowing! Oh my God!  Johnny can't ever find out I slept with this guy! He would be so pissed! Oh my God! He just can't be my child's father! Please oh please lord please don't let him be the one that got me pregnant!"

"Oh my God Dot who is it?" Erica exclaimed with her mind running wild.

"The nurse entered the room interrupting their conversation." Please follow me to the doctor's office."

The girls walked down to his office and met with the doctor. They went over the ultrasound results and all the updated info from the ultrasound looked fine. Dot's mind kept flashing back to the night she had sex with this guy. She had tried to put it out of her mind. He had always flirted with her when she was with John. But she ignored it. "God why did I let him take me home? I should have known better!" Her mind was going crazy with regret when she heard the doctor say. You left the father's name blank on your form. Unless there's some sort of problem we need the information, so we can update your file."

"Yeah I'm sorry she grabbed the paper and pen. She stared at the line for a moment she took a deep breath and wrote out the name of the only father she wanted for her child. John Francis Bonjovi Jr.

Erica looked on sort of shocked."Damn I can't believe she is really going through with this." She thought as she saw John's full name scribbled out across the document. "She's really going to let Johnny think this baby is his!"
